This past Easter was probably one of the most fun we've had in many years. We decided rather than spending the time with our family alone, we decided to have a huge gathering with my parents, brothers and sisters and their children. We cooked a huge meal and the kids had an Easter egg hunt. After all the festivities and while the kids were waiting to eat, they decided to pull out the video game console and play a few games. Our kids got the video game console for Christmas, and they wanted to bring it along to play with their cousins and other members of the family. I knew it would only add to their fun, so I checked with mom to make sure that it was ok that we brought the video game console and she was more than happy if we did.

Since we knew it was going to be late before we finished eating and having dessert, we decided rather than drive the two hours home we'd spend the night at mom and dad’s. We are the only ones who don't live locally, and it was great to be able to spend the evening with everyone. Once the kids had gone to bed, (they wore themselves out playing with the video game console and were all spending then night as well) we decided to come in from the back porch and head to the living room for a cup of coffee to warm up, since the temps had started dropping and it had gotten a little chilly outside.

We saw the video game console lying in the middle of mom and dad's living room, and my husband commented that he couldn't believe the kids didn't put away the video game console. I told him that he should have known they wouldn't since they were caught up in having fun with their cousins. When mom came into the living room with a tray of coffee, she surprised me by asking if we were going to play a game on the video game console. I asked her if she knew how, and she said she didn't, but she was willing to learn. That night, we stayed up until late in the night laughing and playing with the video game console. Needless to say, that was the first of many holidays that will include the video game console.
