multiplayer games, video game console

One of the things that I have come to love about multiplayer games is the opportunity that they provide to teach my children life lessons.
One of the best life lessons that they are learning by playing with someone else is how to share. We have games that up to four people can play, but we only have two controllers. This is helping them learn that it's only fair and in good sport to give someone else a turn every now and then. We do this by setting a timer. When the timer goes off, it's time to switch out. It doesn't matter where they are in their game, either. Even the neighborhood kids are getting the hang of this rule in our home.
The second life lesson that everyone is learning from playing multiplayer games on the Wii video game console is that life is not always fair. You will win some. You will lose some. And sometimes other people just have more skill than you. It's not their fault that you can't hit the ball they just pitched at you. They did nothing wrong. You can't overreact that way. My middle son is learning to master this one.
